The Loss of Faith

Faith can be different for every person, its not just believing in God or an after life. Having faith is believing in that one thing in your life that is consistent, that brings you joy and that lifts you up from your pain. Everyone has faith in something, otherwise we are all just wandering around with no direction like a hollow, empty shell. When something happens to make us question our existence or make us sorry for being who we are we question that guiding light. We blame that light for guiding us into pain because we trust that it will take us to places we want to go; that is what having faith is. After our faith is questioned we will never have that undivided doubtless belief in it again. Being led to death as the world watches and believing all the while that your God will save you, but instead you see your friends and family die, is enough to make anyone question their faith in God. They followed blindly after him thinking he would never lead them into that situation, and when they got into that situation they were very quick to blame him. That is how life goes though, we blame the ones and things we love because we know they will always be there. After you have been through so much pain and tragedy your soul becomes numb to happiness and hope because sorrow is the one thing it is used to feeling. Losing your faith is like dying, but not having the luxury of peace. Your soul is in turmoil and is never settled or fulfilled after you lose faith because faith is the glue that holds us all together. Without it no one will ever be whole.

I really like your group response I personally thought it was funny. I like the sentence "Everyone has faith in something, otherwise we are all just wandering around with no direction like a hollow, empty shell." I really thought that line was funny when read it. And when you are talking about God or when you say He or Him you need to capitalize the first letter. I also like the sentence that says "Your soul is in turmoil and is never settled or fulfilled after you lose faith because faith is the glue that holds all together" and I agree with that statement.

One thing How is that line funny "faith in god"? I personally find it more of an emotional thought than humorous. but anyway I think you guys were very "into" your post and it truly moved me emotionally. Ill admit im not much of a churchgoer but your post made me feel good.

I'm not much of a church goer either, but I didn't find our post humorous. It was a very deep question to ask and our group really got into what we believe is faith to answer it. We are not just talking about God in this post, we are talking about our own individual faith. We are INDIVIDUAL, which makes our faith different. It is a very sad thing to lose faith because then you can never be truly happy. How can that be funny? All I am saying is to not mock our post, we opened ourselves up to write it and we are open to others ideas of faith too.

Sometimes when something touches us emotionally we laugh as a defense against feeling. I know I do that.

I think your last sentence says it all. This post definitely had an emotional impact on me. It was very good and I understood all of it. Sometimes people will write things and I know what they mean to say, but it doesn't quite make sense, but yours definitely does. Good job.

I really like your post. I like the sentence "We blame that light for guiding us into pain because we trust that it will take us to places we want to go". I really like that sentence because its true. Your group did a good job explaining your answers to the questions. Good Job!

I have to agree with Natasha. You piece was very good. It makes me sad reading this piece because every word is so true and it just makes you wonder how it would be if you lost faith. Your last sentence was really good also. How would you ever be whole without faith? Good job on your post!

I agree with you 100%. I don't find anything "funny" about it. Everything is true at least for me it is. You put emotion in it and it made me really feel good. I like your last two sentences. They are very strong... and full of emotion. Great post!

Your post had a lot of detail! I really don't think that this post is funny! You put a lot of thought into this and you listened to what your heart says. I like this post a lot!! Good job. And like Natasha and Shelby had said, I like your last sentence, it says it all. And I have to comment about the "YEAH TOAST!!" ;)

I'd really like to be able to just post one word, wow. But then I'm sure my daily effort grade would go down :] Anyways, I just LOVE how you guys worded your post, and I agree mostly with what you have said.

Some people may laugh as a defense against feelings, and others might not read the post also so don't take it to hard. It is not funny, and we are sorry for how that came out. I don't know where someone could get that idea. I thought that you made a lot of understandable points. I'm not one who wants to get in to it because faith and religion is a touchy subject. But the last sentence "Without it no one will ever be whole." sums it all up, no matter if you are Jewish, Christian, or don't believe at all you do have faith in something.

The line "Having faith is believing in that one thing in your life that is consistent, that brings you joy and lifts you up from your pain." I really like how you worded it. Faith isn't all about Christ. It can just be something you truly believe in.

This is a great post. It describes the question with detail and feeling. You guys were able to put your feelings down on paper and I agree with them.

I agree with what you said about the part where we love God or that something that we have faith in all until something goes wrong. We do go blinded when things go our way, but we are very quick to point fingers and give up when times get hard. Great Post!
