Moishe Was Telling the Truth

No one believed Moishe when he returned for several reasons. Moishe was homeless, so he didn't exactly fit in with the upper class. While people didn't mind his presence, they didn't necessarily notice him. So if no one really knows he exists, they aren't going to believe him when he returns and tells them of all these horrific things that he witnessed. Everyone ignored him and tried to pretend it wasn't happening. No one thought the war would last as long as it did, so none of them thought that anything like Moishe was talking about could be possible. He was telling them the people about the things that he saw, like little babies being thrown in the air and getting shot. No one wants to believe that anything that disturbing and sick could be happening in the middle of the twentieth century. If people had believed Moishe things could have been very different. The people could have taken action. They would have been able to hide. They could have warned countless others. Things could have turned out a lot better.

I could not agree more. How could anyone believe these horrific acts. It's almost human nature just to ignore Moishe. I know I most likely would not have believed him.

Your blog was amazing i thought you put a lot of detail and knew exactly what you were talking about. But i think that even if they listened to Moishe the Beadle and hide, that the Germans would still would have found them. You guys did a really good job

It is very hard for me to learn about the Holocaust and believe it happened only 64 years ago. I think that more than anything the Jews did believe Moishe and so they tried as hard as they could to think he was lying. They wanted to grasp onto their last threads of hope while they could.

This post is the best and most true by far. The point about Moishe not fitting in with the upper class people was exactly right. Why would you believe someone who could be crazy?

It definetly would have been hard to believe Moishe, but like i said in the other blog, what could it have hurt? Better safe than sorry i would think. But i guess the circumstances back then were different so it's hard for me to say if i would believe him or not myself back in that day. I wish they would have, things could have been so much better for them.

Yes, the end results could of been better. If they would have only belived him. But put youre self in their shoes, if a homless guy came to you with these stories would you have belived him?

This was a good blog. You did really good with explaining why no one would believe Moishe. I like how you said that Moishe was homeless and that is why he did not fit in. Who would believe a crazy homeless guy? But I feel like you could have told more on what they would have done if they believed Moishe.

your post was very good. You added alot of detail to make people realize why people didn't believe Moishe. I most definitely wouldn't of believed him, but i would of prepared for it just in case these terrible events did happen.

I agree that the people had a hard time believing Moishe but I think that just because he was homeless that is any reason not to believe him. The baby part I can see people not believing because who in there right mind would kill a baby? The part about the jews could of warned others i think in the end that would of been bad because they would of been easier tracked.

I completely agree with this. I wouldn't have believed the homeless crazy guy either, and I agree that if they wouldn't have been in denial about the whole war then it could have ended a lot better for all of them.

I agree with you, I do not think they listened to him because he was homeless, who would listen to a homeless man. I do think they noticed him, Elie talked to him about a lot. Also they could have warned countless other but who says that they would believe them just because there not homeless.

I agree with your post for the most part. However, whose to say that they would have left even if they believed him? They could have still been in a state of denial and told themselves that it simply wouldn't happen to them. His social class probably did have something to do with them not believing in what he said, as you said. But, on the other hand, whose to say that they wouldn't have listened to him even if he was a prominent member of society? The point is that nobody wanted to believe that these horrific things actually happened and odds are they wouldn't have believed it no matter who told them.

They didn't mind Moishe because he didn't act like the other people who were in his situation. They should have believed him since he had never acted like this before. However, people did know he existed. They saw him everyday and although they didn't stop to talk to him they knew who he was.

I definitely agree with you. I wouldn't believe him either. Not unless I saw it with my own eyes. I also agree that if people did believe him that things would of been a lot better.

Even if the people in the town had believed Moishe, i do not think they would, or could have taken any action toward the Germans. they could have tried, but probably not have succeeded. They would just have known their awful ending, instead of guessing what would happen.

In response to Jared's comment, I would like to think that I would have believed him. He never gave anyone any reason to doubt him before and if he is the only one who came back, how do you explain where the rest of the people are?
