He Should Forgive.
I think that Elie should forgive the Nazis, even though they did unspeakable acts to him and millions of other people. Hitler is the one who started the whole Holocaust with one single idea, and he is the one who should be blamed for the whole thing. Yes, Hitler had an army to back him up, but a lot of the people in that army were too scared of him to stand up for the Jews if they even wanted to. So even if those people did do awful crimes to the Jews under Hitler’s orders, they have a reason as to why they did those things if in fact they weren’t for Hitler. Fear can make people do crazy things, and that is what a lot of people did under Hitler’s rule. Not only did the Germans who did not agree with Hitler do what Hitler asked, but a lot of Jews even gave up their religion just for a chance to stay alive. The Nazis were not the only guilty ones.

Only one man can be rebelled against, the Nazis also wanted somebody to blame for the loss of WW1. Hitler just blamed whoever he wanted to and every body went along with the bs.
But what about the Nazis that were with Hitler every step of the way, the ones that weren't scared of him? I still don't think being afraid of one man is justification for ruthlessly murdering millions of innocent people.
The ones who were with Hitler every step of the way are the ones who do not have the excuse. They may not deserve to be forgiven, but I think that it would show them who is really the more (ok I don't want to use this word but I can't think of another to fit what I'm trying to say) mature group.
I do not agree with you on why he should forgive the Nazis. Yes they may have been scared but you should stand up for what you believe in. The bible says not to fear anything, so therefore they must of lost sight of there faith.
I agree that Elie should forgive those who have persecuted him but I think you should of touched more on why he should have forgave them. You went on and on about who was guilty of persecuting him. You had a good idea of what you were saying but you rambled on about who was guilty, not why she should forgive them.
I agree. I like how you further explain what you are talking about in your post. What you said about fear making people do crazy things is so true, for everyone in all situations. Even some of the Jews betrayed their religion; you are right. It was a great post, and really gives a different way of looking at the question.
I agree with your post. One point I really like that I failed to mention in my post was when you said Hitler should be blamed. In my opinion Hitler and his top assistants should be blamed. If you were to not forgive anyone it should be Hitler and his assistants. Also I agree, many people probably didn't want to do such horrible acts but were merely forced to follow.
I agree with you when you say that the blame should fall on Hitler. Maybe not necessarily all of the blame because whether or not the Nazis were scared of him, they still should not have done what they did, but, the ideas were Hitler's and he is the one who put them into action. In your writing it sounds like you are saying that the Nazi soldiers should be given forgiveness, but that Hitler should not, I do not agree with that. No matter how evil he was, I still think he should be forgiven, even though he does not deserve it. To get rid of all the hatred and bitterness that eats away at you, you have to forgive them all.
I do believe that fear can make poeple do crazy things. The Nazis should have fought for what they believed in instead of letting fear get the best of them. But I think there was some Nazis out there that believed everything Hitler was saying and did follow him because they thought it was right. Yes, some of the Jewish people lost their faith but it was only from being in the camps. They felt like God was behind all this horrible acts and wondered why He was not stopping them. I do not feel like they lost their faith just to try to saty alive.
You make a very good point, one I have never considered before. Hitler did have a big pull in what the other people who followed him did. But on the other hand it was not only Hitler, one single man could have never carried out these acts by himself. He had several othe very powerful people right beside him the whole time.
