No Forgiveness
Should Elie forgive? There are many outputs on if the Jews should have forgiven the Nazis for what they did to them during the Holocaust. My thought on whether they should forgive them or not no, I don’t think that they should. What I would do in if I was in that situation, I probably would not forgive them for what they did. How could you? Here you have a group of people who have taken away a couple years of your life, starve you, humiliate you, and treat you like dirt till you didn’t believe that you were human any more. I know that I wouldn’t be able to forgive anyone for taking away a couple years of my life where I could make a difference in the world, just to have me stay in a concentration camp and rot away like an old piece of meat. I especially couldn’t forgive the Nazis if they would of taken away all of my family members away from me, and then I would not know what of happened to them, and would never see them again. So should Elie forgive the Nazis for what they did to him, and to the rest of his family and the rest of the Jews, I don’t think so.

Alex, you have a very good post, but some parts at the beginning don't really make sense. But it was a good post and I shared some of the same opinions as you.
Siebz nice post, you have a very good post. You put some great thought into in and back your answer up good with some very good points nice post!
I really like your post i never thought of forgiving the Nazi's like you did. The par I really liked was when you said that you yourself wouldn't be able to forgive the Nazi's because they were treating the Jews like they weren't human anymore and that is completely right. So I hope you keep up the good work on your post.
I like your post. You have a error in the beginning you might want to fix. You added an "in" that shouldn't be there. Other than that it's good. I agree it would be very hard to forgive somebody who ruined your life.
I respect your opinion and your post is well supported by explanation. Even though the Nazis did all those horrible things its important for Jews to forgive them so they can move on with a healthy life filled with inner peace.
You have a good point about you shouldnt forgive the Nazis for them taking everything away from you, but shouldnt everyone have a second chance? Sure they humiliated Elie but i believe that if Elie can forgive them then it would be easier to go on in life.
I can understand where you get those feelings, but by hating the Nazis for the rest of their lives they are letting the bad guys win. They must forgive and must move on otherwise what the Nazis did to them will taint everything they do for the rest of their lives. I'd hope they would use their pain to help others in need, to offer support to those who go through pain as well. Without that closure to that horrific part of their life they will be scarred and never be able to be whole. Without forgiving they are creating more pain for themselves because that piece of their soul will always be reliving that time by keeping that hatred.
I disagree that Elie should not forgive the Nazis but you brought up some very valid points to support your belief. Good job. I also think it would be very difficult to forgive the Nazis for all they had done and it is easy for me to say I would forgive but if I was in that situation I am not completely sure I would. Nice post.
I also respect your opinion, but i disagree. Yes, if we all would of went through that, we couldn't forgive them. But, how in the world do we know how they felt after it was all over. It would be a drag on their lives every single day. By forgiving it may help release some of the pain they are feeling. You can't really take into perspective on the question "What if we were there?" We weren't, we have no idea what they went through or how they felt.
But you supported your opinion nicely.
I have to say i disagree with you, but you really got me thinking about it! If it happened to me to this day i dont really think i could of forgiven them. but still inside me there would be this buring desire of hatred that i would eventually need to deal with. I really liked the way you approached this blog keep up the good work!
This is an awesome point in your post, "How could you? Here you have a group of people who have taken away a couple years of your life, starve you, humiliate you, and treat you like dirt till you didn’t believe that you were human any more." But I do think to keep from the Nazis taking more years of their lives they need to move on and stop being the victims.
I respect your opinion but I'm going to have to disagree. If Elie goes through life with all that hatred in his life he is never going to be happy. I think if we would of went through that we would of learned to forgive the Nazis but we wouldnt have forgotten what we went through or what happened to are love ones. You make some good points but I think to live a good and healthy life to make a difference in the world you are going to have to forgive.
Your post had alot of feeling behind it, I respect that. But, I think that it is very important for Elie to forgive the Nazi's in order for him to become happy again and let go of all the grief and pain that is stored in his heart. Think about when you and a friend or family member has got into a fight, you probably felt sad or angry or hurt right? But then now think about how relieved you felt when you made up. During that time of the fight, you prolly felt down and bummed everyday, or even awkward around the person your in a fight with, right? So, it's the same for Elie, he prolly feels sad and hatred toward his enemies. Just think how much better he could feel if he forgave.
I agree with this post, it is the same thing I wrote. I would never be able to forgive the people who isolated me until the point of death. Most people will say the only way to inner peace is forgivness, but I disagree. Most of the people who lived went on to have better lives, whether they forgave or not they can still be happy people.
You had a very good post and you backed up your opinions well, however, I cannot agree with you. Yes, it would be extremely difficult if not nearly impossibe for Elie to forgive the Natzis after all the horrible things they put him through. He went through a proverbial "hell on earth". But forgiveness is always the best choice, not only from a religious or moral standpoint, but from a psycological one as well. By allowing his anger and hatred towards the Natzis to fester inside of him like dirt in an open wound, Elie will never truely be able to move on with his life. I'm not saying that Elie has to forget what has happened to him, or even that he cannot be angery about it, but forgiveness is the key to peace. And after all that this poor man has been through, doesn't he deserve peace?
